Class is designed to simulate, demonstrate, and explore HOW one goes about being an effective and productive contributor in planning for water resources management GIVEN all it involves, challenges and opportunities.
Including knowledge, skills and attitudes.
Exploiting use of new web based potentials.
Trying to be more holistic/comprehensive of both substance and process and differing perspectives on these.
A web like approach where links can be followed to go further and further into a topic from relatively simple beginnings…. from bites to snacks to meals.
Where Tony offers starting points for your reading and places you can go for more BUT where you are strongly encouraged to search out better resources for us all and tell us about them.
More fundamentally, we will practice the search and learning strategies that you will need to become an ever more effective contributor throughout your career.
Our approach will be to go through several iterations of and varied opportunities for applying the key concepts and framework for the course.
Capitalizes on the experience and knowledge of the class participants.
At any point in time one or more participants will likely know more than others about what we are discussing and the rest of us will be looking to them to help us learn and better understand BUT the responsibilities will be continually changing as we move through different realms of knowledge and experience.
Simulates the varied values and knowledge needed in sustainability planning for water resources management.
This course will touch upon many subjects and only occasionally and selectively go into them in any depth…whole courses are taught on many of the topics, sub-topics and sub-sub-topics we shall discuss.
Explores strategies for advancing your knowledge, skills and attitudes throughout your career.
Emphasizes the development of communication and interaction skills through facilitated discussions, making presentations, and writing assignments; use of multimedia and the web is encouraged.
The workload in this course will be demanding but no more than you can expect to encounter as practitioners… strategies for meeting these challenges will be suggested and practiced.
